Part IV Designation Requests

Allocation of funds from Heritage Grant reserve to secure a consultant to complete owner-requested Part IV designations (181 Tower Road, 247 Old River Road, 117 Raison Road & 186 Main Street)

Recommendation:
Whereas the Municipal Heritage Committee has received requests from four private property owners to designate their properties; and

Whereas the Committee has done preliminary research on each of the properties and pulled together information on each of the properties however additional resources are required to finalize updated statement of cultural heritage significance as required by the Ontario Heritage Act; and

Whereas there is money in the Heritage Celebration Grant Reserve Fund that has been unallocated for grant applications; and

Whereas the Heritage Celebration Grant policy was amended to encourage new properties to be designated to be eligible for a one time grant of $5,000; and

Therefore the Municipal Heritage Committee recommends that Council approve the allocation of up to $15,000 from the Heritage Celebration Grant Reserve Fund to allow staff to proceed with retaining a consultant to prepare the required statements of cultural heritage significance and provide budget allocation for advertising the requested property designations.
